Kindergarten

The method of instruction in the Kindergarten is “Learning through Play” and is a combination of the traditional system.

Rhymes, Story narration, Art and Craft, Nature Study and Audio-Visual Learning are incorporated to provide a sound and robust teaching-learning experience for the overall development of the children.

Our kindergarten classrooms are staffed with a highly trained and qualified kindergarten teacher and a para-professional to assist the teacher.

Our students walk through the classroom doors by 9:30 am. The morning typically involves a Morning Prayer time at 9:40 am. Large group instruction, songs, stories, and singing are all a part of the morning gathering.

The Kindergarten students have their 'Free Choice' time from 9:40 am to 10:00 am, during this time the children can choose to play with a toy of their choice or watch cartoons. The 'Circle Time' is from 10:00 am to 10:15 am where they do a variety of learning activities, followed by which they have 'Theme Time' the children learn General Knowledge, Science and other subjects.

The children have their day’s first break at 10:45 am, milk and snacks are served during this break. 'Maths time' from 11:00 am to 11:40 am; problem-solving and numerical fluency are taught to the students.

The children have their lunch from 11:40 am to 12:30 pm. Their English language classes are from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm. Teachers work with the students by helping them apply the learned letter sounds and sound chunks. Emphasis is given on developing all the four language skills of the students - listening, speaking, reading and writing. songs, poems, literature and companion activities are inclusive of the learning program.

From 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm the children have their play time. 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm they have listening classes. At 2:45 pm they have their nap time and they wake up by 3:40 pm. The children are provided milk and snacks. They depart the school at 4:10 pm after a brief prayer and closing activity.

Elementary School

Primary School comprises Classes 1 to 5. At MIS, we value education more as a collaborative construction of meaning and as the transformation of personal understanding, and less as the transmission of knowledge through rote memorization of facts.

Keeping this in mind, the course is carefully crafted to aid the student’s development.

Here, the main emphasis is on the all-round development of the child. The academic, social, and behavioral aspect takes center stage. Children are exposed to various activities which allow them to discover where their interests lie.
